The City of Carmel will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Carmel Clay Veterans Memorial Plaza. The event is free and open to the public, according to the City of Carmel website.

City officials, including Mayor Sue Finkam, will attend. Participants will include the American Legion Post #155, Carmel Fire Department Honor Guard Pipe and Drum Band, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10003. If it rains, the event will move to The Studio Theater at 4 Carter Green.

Scheduled performances include artists Delila Seals and Marrialle Sellers from Artist Development Studio, Carmel High School musicians Kennedy Abernathy, Eline Kline, Gwen Stacey, and Connor Suduth, and the Carmel Middle School Choir directed by Trisha Scheidies.

The keynote speaker will be Dan Hinze, First Sergeant (Retired) of the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Grace and Kate Krumsee from the Carmel Mayor's Youth Council will also take part. George Davis, Chaplain of the Carmel Police Department, will provide a prayer.

After the ceremony, attendees are invited to Carmel VFW Post #10003 for food and music. Veterans will receive free meals as part of the event.
