
The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a male bicyclist early in the morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of S. Lafayette Street and Williams Street, where officers found the victim lying in the road with his bicycle just after 4:30 a.m.
Immediately upon their arrival, officers performed medical aid, which was subsequently taken over by medics. The victim, however was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital, as confirmed by the Fort Wayne Police. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending next of kin notification. The investigation is ongoing with FWPD's Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) working to gather all available evidence.
The police have made a public appeal for witnesses or anyone with information related to this tragic event.
