Tom Brady, known for his NFL career achievements, is scheduled to participate in a pre-race event at the Indianapolis 500 alongside NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. According to FOX59, Brady will ride in the "Fastest Seat in Sports," a two-seater IndyCar driven by Johnson, shortly before the race begins on May 25.
The upcoming event features two prominent figures from different sports. Tom Brady, who holds seven Super Bowl titles and currently serves as the lead NFL analyst for FOX, will participate as the featured passenger. According to an interview conducted by Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Brady joins a list of high-profile individuals who have taken part in this pre-race tradition. Previous participants have included Alex Rodriguez and Lady Gaga, representing fields such as baseball and music.
Jimmie Johnson, a seven-time NASCAR champion and member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, was also named the 2022 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year. As reported by WISH-TV, his accomplishments place him alongside notable figures such as Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty. Following the pre-race event with Tom Brady, Johnson is scheduled to travel to Charlotte Motor Speedway to make his 700th career series start.
Johnson noted the distinctive atmosphere of the Indianapolis 500 and expressed his anticipation for the upcoming event. "I love the Indy 500. There is an energy and excitement around the '500' that is unlike anything I have experienced before," Johnson told FOX59. He continued, "Certainly, pre-race ceremonies are the ultimate racing experience that I’ve had outside of the car. I’m thrilled to be a part of the program and to see the stands full one more time. I’m extremely honored to come back and do it and to be able to also share this experience with another seven-time champion." As both athletes participate, the event will proceed with scheduled activities leading into one of auto racing’s established competitions.
