Hamilton County is set to celebrate the remarkable contributions of its youth once again. The 32nd Annual Hamilton County Youth Service Awards, honoring the dedication and achievements of young leaders committed to serving their community and living drug-free, is scheduled for next Monday at the Government & Judicial Center in Noblesville, kicking off at 4:00 p.m. Organized by the Hamilton County Commissioners and the Hamilton County Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs (HCCOAOD), the event spotlights the ongoing commitment of the county’s youth toward civic engagement and social responsibility.
According to an announcement on the Hamilton County website, Executive Director of HCCOAOD, Monica Greer, expressed her ongoing admiration for the participants: "Every year, I’m amazed by the passion and resilience of these young leaders. Their dedication to service and their stand for a drug-free lifestyle are powerful reminders of the positive future being built right here in Hamilton County." The ceremony will shine a light on an array of nominations representing a diverse group of high-achieving students from local high schools, each having made notable strides in their respective arenas of service.
This year's nominees include an impressive cohort: Josh Cale representing Carmel High School, Sloan Ferguson from Fishers High School, Madison Bowman from Hamilton Heights High School, Evan Lawhead from Hamilton Southeastern High School, Ryan Vetor from Noblesville High School, Zachary Phillips from Sheridan High School, and Asha Adhikari from Westfield High School. The nominated students have not only excelled individually but have also served as beacons for their peers, promoting a healthy and productive community ethos.
The reward for their exemplary service will be material as well as honorific. A committee of employees has been tasked with selecting the most outstanding among these praiseworthy young citizens. Although only one will be awarded the prestigious $1,000 scholarship, each finalist will come away with a $300 scholarship, ensuring that all nominees receive tangible recognition for their efforts. Information regarding the selection process and the awards can be found on the Hamilton County website.
