The Indianapolis Colts will honor their late owner, Jim Irsay, with a commemorative jersey patch throughout the 2025 NFL season, the team confirmed today. The black patch features Irsay's initials, his signature, and a smiley face—a design element he commonly included in autographs. It also incorporates a ring of seven grommets, referencing the seven grommets in the Colts' horseshoe logo, as per FOX59.
According to WISH-TV, Irsay passed away on Wednesday last week at the age of 65.
Following his death, the Colts updated their social media profile images to include the commemorative patch, as noted by IndyStar. Irsay is survived by his three daughters—Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Irsay Foyt, and Kalen Jackson—who continue to serve as co-owners of the team.
The Colts also released a tribute video on social media, featuring Irsay in various moments with players and fans. Irsay began his executive role with the team in 1984 after the Colts relocated to Indianapolis, following his promotion by his father, Bob Irsay. His tenure included the team’s Super Bowl victory during the Peyton Manning era.
