
Police are conducting an inquiry into a deadly car crash that took the life of a 30-year-old man last evening in South Seattle. The incident occurred in the 4700 block of East Marginal Way South, according to a statement by the Seattle Police Department. Patrol officers were called to the scene at approximately 7:25 p.m. and found the vehicle had veered off the road into a light pole and then came to rest on nearby train tracks.
Upon arrival, the Seattle Police and Fire Departments discovered the victim still inside his car. Despite immediate attempts to save his life, the Seattle Fire Department ultimately pronounced the individual dead at the scene. Before losing control of his car, the driver was observed traveling southbound on East Marginal Way South at what investigators believe was a high rate of speed.
The area was immediately sealed off by police, awaiting the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS), which later processed the collision site for evidence. The official release from the SPD Blotter reported that the car ended up roughly 40 yards from the road, indicating the crash's severity. Following the accident investigation, the King County Medical Examiner took charge of the victim's body.
Police have not yet released information regarding whether other vehicles were involved or if any other individuals witnessed the fatal event.
