Nashville Braces for Mixed Bag of Weather, Thunderstorms and Sunshine Ahead

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a detailed forecast for the coming days, laying out a mix of thunderstorms and sunshine for residents to prepare for. Temperatures are set to hover in the mid to high 80s, with periodic chances of rainfall that could bring about significant accumulations in some instances. The NWS alerts us to a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning this morning, possibly bringing between a quarter and half an inch of new rainfall.

As the weekend approaches, Tonight seems to promise more intense weather. According to the weather.gov forecast, "Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Some of the storms could be severe." The NWS predicts winds reaching up to 20 mph, though gusts may be higher, along with an unswerving 100 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts are expected to range between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

Saturday, however, will offer a reprieve with clearer skies and a sunny high of 87 degrees. Winds will persist, with gusts as strong as 25 mph. Moving into Saturday night, the chance of showers drops to a minimal 20 percent, under partly cloudy skies and a more gentle west wind, which is predicted to become calm as the evening wears on.

Looking ahead into early next week, the possibility of rain seems to be a consistent theme, with the NWS stating, "Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm," on Monday indicating a 60 percent chance of precipitation. On Tuesday, the region can expect a higher chance of showers, with a likelihood pegged at 70 percent.

The forecast retains a chance of showers throughout much of the week, with a notable dip in temperatures on Wednesday, offering some reprieve with highs around 75. Thunderstorms remain a possibility with a consistent 50 percent probability that carries over through the end of the week. Even as Thursday projects a mostly sunny day with a modest 20 percent chance of showers.
