Seattle police made a significant bust in Belltown this week, arresting two men on drug charges and confiscating an array of narcotics, along with a firearm and cash, SPD Blotter reports. The men, aged 29 and 40, were apprehended during what the department describes as proactive patrols in the neighborhood, one caught in the act of a drug deal, the other with a warrant out for his arrest.
It all unraveled on Tuesday when the 40-year-old suspect was caught by patrol officers as he allegedly sold drugs near 2nd Avenue and Blanchard Street. This individual, a convicted felon, was also armed with a loaded gun, which, due to his criminal history, is a clear violation of the law. The duo's luck struck out fast. The 29-year-old tried to make a getaway in a nearby vehicle but was stopped and arrested on a $15,000 drug warrant linked to the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (VUCSA). When the officers made the arrest, they spotted suspected Fentanyl in the car, which was then impounded and searched following a judge's warrant approval.
During the arrest and subsequent vehicle search, officers discovered an assortment of drugs totaling 154.8 grams, according to the SPD Blotter. The seized substances included 77.5 grams of Fentanyl, 16 grams of Crack Cocaine, 15.1 grams of Heroin, 46.2 grams of Methamphetamine, plus 10 blue M-30 pills and a .25 Caliber Handgun. Cash to the tune of $597 was also recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest.
A further search on Wednesday unearthed an additional $982 and 3.2 grams of Fentanyl from the impounded car. The totality of the findings certainly denotes a significant strike against the local drug trade.
