Seattle authorities are currently piecing together the events that led to a double stabbing near Hing Hay Park in the Chinatown-International District yesterday night. The Seattle Police Department reported that officers arrived at the 500 block of South Jackson Street at 8:42 p.m. following a report of a disturbance. There, they discovered a 32-year-old man with a severe neck wound. According to witness accounts shared with the police, an altercation occurred just before the stabbing took place, which pointed to a direct correlation between the dispute and the subsequent violence.
The first victim was attended to by the officers who arrived on the scene, providing initial aid until medics from the Seattle Fire Department could take over. The man was then transported, in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center. A second victim, a 37-year-old man, had sustained a cut to his arm, though the injury was assessed at the scene as non-life-threatening and he was released after treatment, said the police.
As the investigation continues, being led by the Seattle Police Department's Homicide and Assault Unit, there remains a gap in the narrative that law enforcement is attempting to fill. Officers are piecing together what escalated to the double stabbing, and thus far, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
In a request for public assistance, the Seattle Police have encouraged community members with any pertinent information to reach out. "Police ask anyone with information to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000," as per the Seattle Police Department blog.
