The crooks behind this latest scheme are using the guise of unpaid toll road fees to try to swindle unsuspecting people out of their hard-earned cash. According to information from the Tennessee Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, these fake toll scam texts are targeting inboxes with claims of unpaid EZ Pass balances.
It's a real problem, and the stats are there to back it up; as per the FBI's findings, Tennesseans were conned out of more than $190 million due to various tech scams just last year, with seniors bearing the brunt of it, representing a significant portion of the financial losses.
