Three individuals were hospitalized following a violent collision between a motorcycle and a car in Hollywood, as flames engulfed the involved vehicle. The incident, which transpired on Sheridan Street near North 66th Avenue, occurred around 8:15 p.m., as reported by 7News. As per the witness accounts, one motorcycle, among the two that were reportedly traveling eastward at a seemingly high speed, struck the side of the car attempting to turn, leading to a car fire immediately after.
A bystander, opting to remain anonymous, captivated the scene: "The first bike hit this car and exploded as soon as it did and the two were sent flying off the bike," the individual told Local 10 News. They added, "The girl driving the car got out and had cuts and glass all over her arm and had half of her shirt burnt off. She was crying." Hollywood Police, alongside Fire Rescue units, promptly arrived to administer aid and to douse the car fire.
The identities and exact conditions of the injured parties have not been disclosed, but all three victims were swiftly taken to a local hospital. The severity of the injuries remains unknown, as officials have not yet released specific updates regarding their states. According to a 7News report, both motorcyclists were wearing helmets at the time of the accident, with the witness observing that the male rider appeared to be unresponsive, while the female rider seemed alert albeit visibly shaken.
Traffic was halted in both directions as detectives began to piece together the events leading to the crash. "Our detectives are on scene investigating the cause of this crash," Hollywood police spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi stated, according to the briefing given to Local 10 News.
