Earlier today, Indianapolis' east side was disrupted by a volley of gunshots that resulted in three individuals seeking emergency care at different hospitals. Officers arrived at the scene near the intersection of East 34th Street and North Arlington Avenue after reports of 30 to 40 shots fired around 2 a.m., as per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's disclosure to FOX 59. No victims were located at the scene, but shortly after, the consequences of the gunfire surfaced as the injured began to appear at nearby hospitals.
The first victim arrived, in stable condition, at Community East Hospital around 2:20 a.m., and was later connected to the earlier incident, police told WTHR. Roughly 40 minutes after the first hospital report, a second male victim emerged at IU Health Methodist Hospital. By 3:05 a.m., the third individual had walked into Eskenazi Hospital, marking the spread of violence from street to the sanctity of healthcare facilities.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department maintains that all three victims, two male and one unspecified, were stable following the shooting, according to information provided by WISH-TV. Despite the quick response of local hospitals and law enforcement, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
