His career milestones include being the first Detective in the department's newly formed Detective Division and later serving as the Operations Commander. Before joining Westfield PD, he served as a Deputy Sheriff and Police Officer in Montgomery County beginning in 1986, and as a Corrections Officer and Reserve Officer the year prior. After earning a B.S. in Criminology from Indiana State University in 1994, he was awarded the Medal of Valor and the Lifesaving Award a year later.
