The Bloomington Police Department celebrated its annual Awards Ceremony last Saturday, an event that acknowledges members of law enforcement for their courageous and remarkable service within the community, according to a social media post by the department. Recognitions were given for acts of service and dedication beyond the call of duty, with the ceremony acting as a symbol of gratitude for the multitude of unheralded deeds performed by police officers and civilian staff, which often go unnoticed and uncelebrated by the greater public.
Of the many awards handed out, the Bloomington Police highlighted Detective Jonathan Muscato as the Officer of the Year for 2024; his accomplishments include notable work in the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, investigating special victim crimes and leading innovative projects within the K9 unit—Muscato's multifaceted leadership within the department has made a marked difference.
