A tragic event unfolded on the evening of Saturday, when the Fort Wayne Police Department was alerted to a person lying in the roadway at the intersection of Paulding Rd. & Calhoun St. The incident, which took place shortly after 10:00 pm, was initially clouded with confusion as one caller reported a possible shooting, while another indicated a hit-and-run incident.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered the injured individual and immediately began to administer critical medical aid, including CPR efforts to potentially save a life, until paramedics took over. Despite their best attempts to stabilize the person, the individual was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Fort Wayne Police Department has since clarified that the victim was not shot, but indeed succumbed to injuries from a hit-and-run crash.

They are currently engaged in interviewing witnesses, securing surveillance video from the area, and collecting physical evidence at the scene, to begin to possibly piece together the events leading to this fatal occurrence.
