Yesterday morning, tragedy struck a quiet residence on Colerick Street in Fort Wayne. An 86-year-old woman, residing at her home in the 900 block, fell victim to a shooting that claimed her life. The Fort Wayne Police Department confirmed that officers were called to the scene at approximately 1:50 a.m. yesterday, where they discovered the elderly female with gunshot wounds. Despite the swift response of medics, she was pronounced dead at the site of the incident.
The identity of the victim is being withheld until further details can be provided by the Allen County Coroner's Office. However, the incident has escalated into an active homicide investigation. As the police work to untangle the circumstances leading to the woman’s untimely demise, the Fort Wayne Homicide Unit is reaching out to the community for assistance.
