Miami-Dade Judge Dismisses Charges Against Telenovela Star Pedro Moreno Following Domestic Dispute

In a recent turn of events, charges against Pedro Moreno, a Cuban actor famed for his roles in telenovelas, have been dismissed following an argument with his wife that led to his arrest last month. As reported by NBC6, during Moreno's arraignment today, the judge announced, "They chose not to file charges in your case so everything's been dismissed." Moreno, 44, faced legal scrutiny after an altercation that involved the potential misuse of his wife's cellphone.

Moreno's arrest was originally on a charge of strong-arm robbery but was later amended to a battery charge by the judge, who found insufficient grounds for the former. According to Hoodline, the incident did not lead to any physical harm to Moreno's wife, despite the confrontation having been witnessed by the couple's eldest daughter. The Cellphone, valued at approximately $250, has since been returned to his wife.

Moreno and Barbara Estevez have been married for 17 years and are currently navigating the course of a divorce, sharing three children together. The argument that escalated into police involvement was rooted in alleged marital infidelities, culminating in Moreno's snooping through his wife's phone. Estevez told NBC6, "He wouldn’t give me my phone, he wanted to still look through it ... I'm gonna call the police. I called the police, not thinking anything was gonna happen."

Demonstrating support for her husband, Estevez requested that the case against him be dropped. "I didn't know that by calling, they would have to do a full investigation and basically take him in, otherwise I would've never called because he was never violent," she told the Miami-Dade bond court. Now, with an unblemished legal slate, Moreno inquired of the judge about lifting restrictions previously placed on his Global Entry - a critical program facilitating his international travel for work. Though the judge could not amend this, she directed him to obtain a "disposition of case" document for further resolution with Global Entry officials, as reported by NBC6.

Following the courtroom developments, Moreno acknowledged the media presence with a brief, humorous salute before making his exit from the proceedings.
