An off-duty Carmel Police officer's observation of suspicious activity has led to the arrest of three individuals linked to a central Indiana retail theft spree. According to a social media post from the Carmel Police Department, the incident took place on May 2nd, when the vigilant officer noticed behavior consistent with recent thefts and promptly notified his on-duty counterparts.
With a swift response, the police pursued one suspect, Randolhf Arraste, who bolted from a store with stolen goods tucked away in a backpack. Aiding in a foot chase, the suspect was caught by officers. Found in the vicinity, two more suspects, Yasmel Arteaga Benitez and Axel Reyes Quintero, were detained by the additional units who had arrived on the scene. The vehicle associated with the trio, sniffed out by a K-9 unit, revealed further evidence of stolen merchandise.
The three were arrested and face multiple charges, including Organized Theft and Theft. Axel Reyes Quintero, who additionally tried to elude law enforcement, received an extra charge of Resisting Law Enforcement. "All three suspects were transported to the Hamilton County Jail," reported the Carmel Police Department, confirming that the final charges await decisions by the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.
