An unsettling incident unfolded in Ogden recently, where a 48-year-old woman succumbed to injuries after a reported knife assault. The woman, who sustained critical injuries consistent with a knife attack, was discovered by responding officers following a disturbance call on the 1400 block of Washington Boulevard. According to FOX 13, she was urgently transported to a nearby hospital but, tragically, did not survive her wounds.
As detailed by ABC4, the suspect involved is Alec Martinez, 26, now in custody at Weber County Jail. Facing grave charges of aggravated murder and disarming a police officer, ABC4.com reveals through police documents that Martinez is believed to have killed his mother during the assault.
The encounter with Martinez escalated when he purportedly disarmed an officer with a taser during his arrest, leading to a brief but tense confrontation. "After a brief struggle ... he was then placed in the back of a patrol car that was eventually transported to Weber County Jail," as stated by KUTV. Officers initially commanded Martinez to drop the knife, to which he eventually complied before his apprehension.
