Richland Parish residents and those traveling through will need to adjust their routes as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced an upcoming closure along LA 133. Scheduled to begin on Monday, this segment of roadway will be blocked off to replace a cross-drain pipe that is currently undermining the road's stability. This vital maintenance work is expected to last until the eve of Independence Day, with the road to be reopened to traffic on July 4.
For those planning to navigate the area, the closure will affect an approximate 4.9-mile stretch north of the US 80 intersection. As safety measures are firmly in place, motorists are advised to strictly not to even attempt to drive around the 'road closed' barricades at any given time. Detour information, complete with signage, will be available to direct drivers along an alternate route for the estimated two-week duration of the closure.
As cited in the DOTD's official announcement, this infrastructure improvement is designed to ensure long-term safety and reliability of the roadway. However, it is important to note that all planned construction is dependent on favorable weather conditions, and as a consequence, the timeline might slightly adjust if necessary.
