The search for Sheryl Sommerkamp, an 81-year-old woman from Carmel, has come to a close as Indiana State Police have canceled the Silver Alert that was announced earlier. According to FOX59, Sommerkamp was located and confirmed to be safe.
Before she was found, Sommerkamp was last seen yesterday at 5:21 p.m., as noted by WTHR. She was described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes, and was reported to be wearing a blue jacket, pink shirt, and blue jeans. The concerns for her well-being were heightened considering she might have been in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
The details regarding the vehicle in which Sommerkamp was last seen were also circulated in the alert. It was a light blue 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, carrying an Indiana license plate AF5518. This information was crucial in aiding the public to potentially identify her location.
The cancellation of the Silver Alert indicates that the situation has been resolved, yet the circumstances surrounding Sommerkamp’s disappearance and subsequent discovery have not been disclosed. As WRTV reported, the Carmel Police Department confirmed her safety but did not offer any further details on the matter.
State police had urged anyone with information on Sommerkamp’s whereabouts to urgently contact the Carmel Police Department at 317-571-2580 or to dial 911.
