
An Addison man has been arrested and charged with DUI causing death, a Class 2 felony, after a fatal crash in Wadsworth over the weekend, as revealed in a recent update by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Andrew D. Willard, 58, is accused of being more than twice the legal alcohol limit when the 2020 Porsche Macan he was driving failed to stop, crashing into a 2016 Chevrolet Volt which was pushed into a 2020 Mercedes-Benz.
According to the preliminary investigation, the accident took place July 5 around 10:15 p.m., when Willard's Porsche, driving westbound, struck the Chevrolet containing multiple occupants, behind the Mercedes, both had stopped at a stop sign, the impact resulted in critical injuries to a passenger in the Chevrolet, Bogdana Mygal, 33, of Niles, who later died, and injuries, though serious, to others involved in the accident that were non-life-threatening, including the Chevrolet's driver a 4-year-old girl, and occupants of the Mercedes.
After being released from the hospital, Willard was taken into custody, facing charges of aggravated DUI causing death, DUI - alcohol, and multiple traffic violations. Additional charges may be pending. "All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law," the official statement asserts.
