The City of Anderson Police Department recently recognized a group of its officers for their exemplary work in a high-profile criminal case. On the APD's official social media channels, an announcement was made detailing the honors bestowed upon several detectives and a sergeant for their roles in solving the Dayla Swain homicide case. Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. and the city government expressed their congratulations to the team for their efforts, which led to the arrest of multiple alleged gang members.
The accolades were presented by APD Chief Mike Lee in a ceremony on July 14th. As reported by the City of Anderson Government's Facebook page, the rigorous investigation spanned across state lines and involved intensive methods such as interviews, surveillance, inter-departmental cooperation, and meticulous evidence collection. Among those honored were Det. Travis Thompson and Det. Brett Webb, both receiving the Distinguished Service Award. A Letter of Recognition was given to Det. Alex Wagner, Det. Mathew Kopp, Det. Christopher Frazier, Det. Cliff Cole, and Det. Dave Carroll. Det. Michael Castro and Det. Cora Garcia were each awarded a Letter of Commendation, as well as Sgt. Gordon Corner.
The awards ceremony coincided with a broader initiative by city officials to highlight and encourage outstanding police work, in hopes that it will contribute to making Anderson a safer community. The intense, methodological approach taken by the detectives and officers was crucial in the swift resolution and prosecution of the case at hand.
"We express our most sincere gratitude to these officers for their efforts and service that are helping to make our city a safe place to live," the City of Anderson's post concluded, emphasizing the positive impact of the APD's work in the community.
