Last Saturday morning in Boca Raton, police officers swiftly apprehended a man suspected of burglarizing a business on the 100 block of NW 20th Street, an incident first reported to the authorities by the alarmed business owner who had been alerted by their surveillance system.
Officials were already en route when they spotted a man, later identified as 56-year-old Robert Lewis, cycling away from the vicinity of the crime, his appearance matched the description relayed by the store owner, he was donned in a white tank top, dark pants, and gloves; an officer took note of his bleeding torso as he rode, which caused officers to approach him, but upon contact, Lewis attempted a fleeting escape that ended swiftly in his capture after a short chase.
Further investigations by Boca Raton Police, as reported by BocaNewsNow.com, revealed that Lewis was the individual caught on video surveillance committing the burglary. The examination of the scene showed that Lewis allegedly shattered windows of nearby establishments between the hours of 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., forcibly entering a total of six stores by hurling bricks and even using a pole to break through the glass barriers.
Upon review of available surveillance footage, Lewis was witnessed ransacking cash registers and helping himself to cigarettes; the sum total of cash misappropriated from the local businesses amounted to approximately $800, this narrative was corroborated by a police statement released via a social media post on the Boca Raton Police's official channel and his transgressions did not go unnoticed, for Lewis, who is already facing the weight of a probation for a prior burglary, found himself confronted with a raft of charges.
