
A Chicago man is facing multiple charges following a shooting that left another man seriously injured in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, according to authorities.
Bernard Butler, 44, was arrested after the incident that took place on July 3. Chicago Police found a 36-year-old man shot multiple times in the 0-100 block of N. Hamlin Boulevard, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said. The shooting unfolded at around 8:50 p.m.
Butler, who was apprehended on the following day in the vicinity of the crime scene, has been slapped with an array of charges. According to the FOX 32 Chicago report, these include one felony count of attempted first-degree murder, one felony count of aggravated battery and discharge of a weapon, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
The case against Butler continues to move through the legal system, with the alleged shooter slated to appear for his next court hearing on Monday.
