A bank robbery suspect in Delray Beach has been apprehended following a second heist attempt, local authorities reported. The man, identified as Kevin Robertson, age 36, was taken into custody by the Delray Beach Police Department (DBPD), with assistance from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO), after he allegedly robbed a bank on Atlantic Avenue. "Thanks to our officers and everyone involved, this suspect was quickly apprehended," Interim Chief Darrell Hunter stated in an announcement obtained by CBS12.
The arrest occurred after DBPD set up a perimeter near the bank that was targeted yesterday around 5 p.m. This is the second bank heist that Robertson is accused of this week, with an earlier incident taking place near East Linton Boulevard. During a heist attempt, the suspect's actions spurred a coordinated response from local law enforcement, including aid from a helicopter unit and the FBI. The support resulted in his capture and the assurance of community safety, as per statements provided by Delray Beach police to WPBF.
Robertson is now linked to both crimes, and DBPD has acknowledged the collaborative efforts that led to his arrest. "I'm proud of the team effort that keeps our community safe," Interim Chief Darrell Hunter told WPBF.
As the investigation continues, the details of Robertson's alleged crimes and the circumstances leading to his recent arrest will be key in the ensuing legal process. More information will likely emerge as the case develops and authorities continue their inquiries. Delray Beach police have expressed gratitude for the partnership that contributed to the resolution of this alarming situation.
