Four individuals were hospitalized after a boating incident unfolded along the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale, as confirmed by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. The accident occurred in a residential area near Northeast 42nd Street, as WSVN reported. The rescue operations began just after 7:30 p.m. yesterday.

Among the injured was a woman who suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital as a Level 2 trauma alert. There is also a report of one victim who nearly drowned. Meanwhile, two others sustained minor injuries in the chaos that unfolded at the waterway. Onlookers witnessed not only local first responders but the U.S. Coast Guard crews as well, attending to the scene.

The effort to assist those in the distress involved multiple agencies. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue units executed a timely response while U.S. Coast Guard officials, having been notified about a capsized vessel, provided support. According to Local 10, commercial salvage vessels were also involved in the rescue operations.

Images from the scene captured by cameras showed victims being transported to rescue trucks with various injuries. One individual was bandaged around the head and depicted limping towards an ambulance with another bandage on his right calf. A patient, seen on a stretcher, appeared to be conscious and communicating with paramedics. The waterway was cleared and reopened shortly before 10 p.m. The cause of the accident is still under investigation as authorities work to understand what precipitated the event.
