Indianapolis became the scene of a dramatic carjacking incident this past weekend, resulting in the arrest of 45-year-old Latosha Hall. According to a social media post from IMPD News, the local police apprehended Hall after she reportedly assaulted a man and made off with his vehicle.
The incident unfurled over the weekend, with IMPD East District officers swiftly dispatched to the 5900 block of Devington Road. It was there that a victim had reported an assault with a glass bottle and the theft of his belongings and car. The victim was treated for head trauma on the scene by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services before they released him. Later, officers managed to spot the stolen vehicle. Despite their attempts to safely stop the car, the suspect led them on a brief chase. Thankfully, no further injuries were reported as the pursuit concluded.
IMPD's pursuit eventually led to Hall pulling the vehicle over and making an attempt to escape on foot. However, she was promptly captured by the officers. The IMPD News post detailed that Hall is now facing multiple charges including auto theft, driving while suspended with a prior conviction, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, resisting law enforcement, and battery on a public safety official.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will ultimately make the final decision on the charges. Emphasizing the legal principle central to our justice system, the IMPD stated, "An arrest is merely an accusation; the individual arrested should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
