Earlier this morning, tragedy struck outside the Mucky Duck Pub on the south side of Indianapolis, where a man was shot and later died from his injuries. According to WTHR, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the 4400 block of Southport Crossing Drive around 1:30 a.m. following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival police discovered a critically injured man, who later succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital, the Marion County Coroner's Office is tasked with revealing the man's identity after his next of kin has been notified meanwhile the search for a suspect or any discernible motive in the violent act continues with the IMPD yet to release further details at this time. In the commotion of the crime scene, CBS4 Indy reports that officers encountered a large-scale altercation unfolding in the bar's parking lot, believed to have been rooted in an earlier dispute involving a woman and another man, eventually leading to the deceased individual's involvement.
The bar patrons, some remaining to cooperate with detectives and others fleeing amid the chaos, left a complex scene for law enforcement to unravel. One bystander, Elijah Daviau, unable to escape the raw aftermath described the intense unfolding of events to CBS4 Indy, stating, "We went out there and I saw a guy laying on the ground, a bunch of people yelling at each other, asking if there was a doctor or paramedic or anything...It took a long time for the cops to even get to the guy because there was so much chaos going on."
The investigation remains open as officials seek information from those present during the incident, with IMPD urging witnesses to come forward to provide any information that could be instrumental in their ongoing inquiry.
