The City of Noblesville has publicly announced the impending retirement of Police Chief John Mann, slated for October of this year, a tenure marking five years of dedicated service to the community. According to a social media post by the City of Noblesville, current Assistant Chief Brad Arnold will assume the role of Police Chief upon Mann's departure, with Eric Cunningham stepping into the Assistant Chief position and Captain Corey Everhart taking over as Deputy Chief over the Criminal Investigations Division.
Chief Mann, who Mayor Chris Jensen appointed in January 2020 after nearly three decades with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, propelled various community-centric initiatives during his leadership including the NobleACT program which is a collaboration between the police and fire departments, and local service providers, aiming to enhance mental health responses within the community, the program has established a compassionate presence in Noblesville with its K9 therapy dogs Luna, Carbon, and Sadie that not only attend to emergency calls but also cater to the emotional well-being of first responders.
"Chief Mann has served our community with integrity, commitment, and strong leadership for the past five years," Mayor Jensen extolled, reflecting on Mann's tenure as chief ─ a period characterized by a focus on officer wellness and community engagement. In a landscape where public servants often operate in shadows and silence, the Chief's efforts have not gone unnoticed; the Noblesville Police Department has received numerous recognitions under his guidance, including a commendable ranking of the 12th Safest Suburb by SmartAsset and the distinction of having Jason Shonkwiler named SRO of the Year in Indiana.
Mann leaves behind a department much transformed, staffed by 111 sworn officers, alongside 14 civilian workers, five patrol K9 units, and the two aforementioned therapy dogs, and although his retirement marks the end of an era, he expressed great faith in the upcoming leadership, "I have been so blessed to be a part of the Noblesville community and work alongside some very special men and women of the Noblesville Police Department," Mann said, acknowledging his time with the department and the unique opportunity to serve, and with the city actively investing in the construction of a new Police Station, Noblesville seems poised to continue evolving in terms of public safety and community relations underscoring the thriving spirit and dedication that Mann helped to foster.
