Officers with the San Francisco Police Department were called to a scene in the Park District after a deceased person was found on the unit block of Laguna Street on May 6, around 3:19 PM. Paramedics, who were the first on site, could no longer assist as the individual was pronounced dead upon their arrival, according to a report by the San Francisco Police Department's news release.

The circumstances surrounding the death quickly raised suspicions, leading the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to rule the situation as such, driving an investigation spearheaded by SFPD's Homicide Detail. As the ongoing investigation remains open, information from the community is still being sought. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD," echoed the sentiments of a public call for assistance, as shared by Hoodline from the San Francisco Police Department.

The investigation led to the identification and arrest of 24-year-old Deno Blackwell last Thursday, located in Oakland, as the San Francisco Police Department stated. Following the development of probable cause, Blackwell was booked at San Francisco County Jail on homicide violation (187(a) PC) after the serving of the search and arrest warrants.
