Three suspects are now in custody after a chaotic sequence involving an armed carjacking, a vehicular crash, and a subsequent police chase unfolded in Miami. The incident, which occurred yesterday morning, was marked by the suspects' silver Hyundai Elantra hitting a building and initiating an intense search by law enforcement. Local 10 News reported the carjacking took place near Southwest 17th Avenue and Fifth Street after 2 a.m., and the surveillance video captured the suspects fleeing the scene.

Ricardo De La Hoz, who owns the building impacted by the crash, awoke to news of the incident around 5 a.m., according to Miami Police. He remarked to Local 10 News, “The vehicle came and (the) impact (was) very hard (on) the corner of building, as you can see right here.” A large police presence was witnessed, with tactical officers and an armored vehicle deployed to actively track down the suspects, who were later detained after an hours-long search.

Following the car crash into his establishment, De La Hoz said to NBC6, "I was very nervous because first I didn't know what was going on, and I saw all the police officers with the big guns out." His restaurant's surveillance system provided footage showing the car speeding down Southwest Fourth Street, veering over a median, and crashing into his business. Detailing the aftermath, he mentioned, "It was a very high impact to the corner of the vehicle, now we got to hire an engineer to check the building and do all the follow-up work."

Details of the carjacking were further elaborated when an officer described the suspects over police transmissions, "Three Hispanic teenagers. One of them was wearing a white jacket; the other two are wearing black jackets. They’re all wearing black pants or shorts." This was recalled by a WSVN report. De La Hoz, who owns Ricky's Arepas next to where the accident occurred, was quoted saying, "Sunday morning, it’s supposed to be easy. This morning, it wasn't absolutely any easy; it was very hectic." Luckily, no injuries have been reported connected to the carjacking or the crash, and at the time of reporting, the charges faced by the detained individuals remain unspecified.
