Volaris Airlines has initiated its inaugural nonstop service to Zacatecas, Mexico, from Oakland International Airport. The Mexican carrier is widening its reach, now offering Oakland flyers its sixth nonstop route to connect with Mexico, plus a route to San Salvador.
The thrice-weekly service, which operates on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, is set to ease travel for those journeying between the two cities. "I’d like to thank Volaris for the remarkable growth that we’ve seen in their service offerings here at OAK," said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon, per Oakland Airport. The times are neatly packaged: flights depart OAK at 1:15 PM and touch down in Zacatecas by 5:46 PM, while return flights leave Mexican soil at 9:01 AM and arrive in Oakland at 11:45 AM.
Volaris Director of Distribution and Market Development, Jorge Roberto García Rojas, exuded enthusiasm about the newly unveiled route. "We are thrilled to launch this new route, connecting two emblematic cities like Oakland and Zacatecas. This is another step forward in our goal to continuously diversify our route offerings for the benefit of our customers on both sides of the border," he shared, according to the airline's press release. Zacatecas, a city boasting an altitude of 8,000 feet in Mexico's Bajio region, is a historical gem with its UNESCO-listed center adorned with Spanish Baroque architecture.
