A tragic incident occurred in downtown Indianapolis yesterday evening, resulting in the death of a woman due to what is believed to be an accidental firearm discharge. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a call at approximately 5:06 p.m., wherein they discovered the victim with a gunshot wound inside a residence located at the 500 block of Massachusetts Avenue, as reported by Fox59.
Upon arrival at the scene, IMPD officers along with medics pronounced the woman dead. Investigations suggest that, the incident did not involve self-harm, leading authorities to explore the possibility of negligence. Following the dispatch to Massachusetts Avenue, "officers located an adult female victim inside a residence," according to a statement obtained by WIBC. Homicide detectives are now actively investigating the case, and two individuals who were initially detained have since been released following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, mentions WRTV.
