A 72-year-old man is in custody following a fatal shooting incident near Happy Valley last Friday evening. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reported that they were quickly summoned to a residence near Southeast Easthampton Street and Southeast 122nd Avenue after a distressing 911 call made by a woman stating her husband had been shot.
The suspect, identified by law enforcement as David Lynn Jurgenson, was found standing outside of the home in question, where deputies took him into custody without incident. According to KPTV, the victim's wife and a small child were also present during the unfolding of these tragic events.
As deputies entered the house, they discovered a 36-year-old man in the living room who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Despite emergency medical aid rendered at the scene, the victim sadly passed away. KGW's coverage indicated that Jurgenson was subsequently booked into the Clackamas County Jail on second-degree murder charges and unlawful use of a weapon, with bail not being granted. KGW reports suggest that detectives believe there was some form of acquaintance between Jurgenson and the victim, although specifics have yet to be disclosed.
The investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting is currently ongoing. Authorities are making attempts to gather further information and have requested the public's help. Anyone with knowledge of the matter is encouraged to urgently reach out to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office tip line at 503-723-4949 or via the online form," as KGW reported.
