In a community engagement effort, Boston Police Department's District A-7 and the School Engagement Unit joined forces with the East Boston YMCA Summer Camp for a day of games and conversation. This interaction, part of the department's initiative to build stronger relationships with community youth, saw officers engaging in what some might consider an unlikely arena—a game of Connect 4.
It is not every day that local law enforcement can be seen in such a light-hearted setting, but for the kids and camp counselors at the East Boston YMCA Summer Camp, this was an opportunity to interact with officers in a non-enforcement capacity. According to a report from the Boston Police Department website, participants had the chance to "ask questions about what it’s like to be a Boston Police officer."
