In a coordinated strike against online predators, the City of Brentwood Police Department, along with the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, has arrested a man for his alleged intent to harm a minor. The week-long sting operation saw multiple agencies joining forces, leading to the arrest of 29-year-old Ty Leighton on charges of attempting to engage in lewd and lascivious acts with a 13-year-old, according to a post on the Brentwood Police Department's social media page.
Leighton, notably on felony probation, also had to contend with a felony warrant for a commercial burglary in Brentwood. The operation, which involved the Brentwood Police Department, Orinda Police Department, and Martinez Police Department, is a testament to the proactive efforts to shield children from harm.
The perpetrator's photo has been released to the public in a bid to identify potential additional victims. Authorities are reaching out, urging anyone with information or who suspects they may have had contact with Leighton to contact the Brentwood Police Department at (925) 809-7911.
