With its prime location in Carmel’s Arts & Design District, 1st on Main stands out as a significant blend of luxury living and commercial space, as reported by the City of Carmel's official bulletin.
This $45 million mixed-use development was realized through a collaborative effort between the Carmel Redevelopment Commission and Lauth Group, Inc. Since its completion, 1st on Main has not only experienced a staggering increase in its assessed value—by nearly 1,490%—but has also achieved full occupancy for its office space and apartments. Its architecture aims to engage its surroundings, connecting to the four adjacent streets and serving as a modern entrance to downtown Carmel. Past winners from the area include the Carmel City Center and Monon Boulevard, each having made an indelible mark on the locale's urban landscape.
1st on Main's design and function arguably set a new standard for developments in the area, offering both luxury condos for sale and upscale rental apartments. Public art and a central plaza add to its communal appeal, further enhancing a thriving downtown district. Previous Carmel projects lauded by the Indy Chamber include the Carmel City Center, which took home the 2024 Achievement Award in Neighborhood Revitalization, and the Republic Airways Training Facility and Lodge, recipient of the 2023 Achievement Award in Construction. Public art at the location has also not gone unrecognized, with the Marmon Wasp and Homage to Hoagy installations receiving accolades in 2023 and 2022, respectively.
