According to an announcement from Carmel Clay Schools, in collaboration with Carmel Swim Club and Hamilton County Sports Authority, the internationally acclaimed event is set for Oct. 10-12, spotlighting Carmel's aquatics culture and giving the local economy a nice little freestyle kick.
The World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Carmel will host athletes from over 50 nations. Carmel High School’s girls’ swimming team holds a national record with 39 consecutive Indiana state championships. Hometown Olympians Aaron Shackell, Alex Shackell, and Drew Kibler are also from Carmel. According to Carmel, Indiana's official statement, athletes, coaches, and fans are expected to increase demand for local hotels and restaurants during the event.
Here's a roster for you: Notable Nine athletes, including Thomas Ceccon of Italy, Team USA's Kate Douglass, and Hungarian swimmer Hubert Kos, are just a few high-profile names among the elite slated to compete. Canada's Josh Liendo and Summer McIntosh, Aussie stars Kaylee McKeown and Mollie O’Callaghan, Noe Ponti from Switzerland, and the USA's Regan Smith round out the list of top-tier talent.
