Chicago neighborhoods are on high alert as a string of commercial burglaries hit the West Beverly, Chicago Loop, and Little Italy areas. The Chicago Police Department issued a business alert following incidents reported in the 22nd, 1st, and 12th districts, where thieves forcibly made to enter retail stores, looting property including cash machines and pricy liquors. A similar crime in Evergreen Park involved offenders matching the same description, signalling a potentially wider crime spree.
Details released by the police chronicle forced entries accomplished by smashing front glass windows or doors. Among the heisted items were a mobile ATM and cash register at one store, and numerous bottles of premium liquor at another. The criminals attempted, but failed to pilfer a second ATM. Their escape vehicle, a stolen white 2018 Kia SUV Sorrento, links these crimes and suggests the same four individuals are behind the various robberies.
The incidents occurred at the following locations: 2600 block of W. 111th St on August 6, 2025 at 2:54 a.m. (West Beverly), 1300 block of W. Taylor St on August 6, 2025 at 3:52 a.m. (Little Italy), and 200 block of W. Van Buren St on August 7, 2025 at 5:27 a.m. (Chicago Loop)
Authorities have released a description of the suspects: four African American males, approximately 16-20 years old, clad in black hooded sweatshirts, dark jeans, and black ski masks. Business owners and residents are urged to keep their properties well-lit and to immediately alert police about suspicious behavior. For those with video surveillance, the police advice to quickly save and pass a copy for the investigating detectives. "If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately," the alert notes, echoing the necessary caution in preserving potential evidence.
