
An unfortunate blaze has left a popular barbecue joint in Edgewater with significant damage over the weekend. The fire ignited on Saturday afternoon at Pork Chop, a restaurant located at 6341 North Broadway Street, as reported by WGN-TV.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where they managed to contain the fire, preventing it from reaching adjacent structures. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported among civilians in the vicinity.
Additional details emerged through CBS News Chicago, disclosing that the fire originated in the restaurant's rear area but rapidly extended to the attic. A significant response ensued, with around 144 firefighters at the scene to battle the conflagration.
In the fray, one firefighter suffered a minor injury, although they prevented the eatery from succumbing entirely to the flames. As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, as per CBS News Chicago.
