State Rep. Tim O'Brien (R-Evansville) is now standing among the upper echelon of Indiana lawmakers, scoring a perfect rating for his backing of legislation aimed at bolstering the economy and job creation. According to a recent report by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, O'Brien nabbed a 100 percent on their 41st annual Legislator Scorecard, a measure used to assess legislative support across vital industry sectors that include child care, economic development, and education, among others.

In a bid to continue pushing Indiana’s economic envelope, O'Brien has vowed to "to quickly move forward policies that grow our economy, support small businesses and keep taxes low for hardworking Hoosiers," as reported by Indiana House Republicans. O'Brien's efforts are coupled with significant legislative moves such as the enactment of House Enrolled Act 1003, which aims to lower health care costs, and House Enrolled Act 1002, which looks to slash education regulations and ramp up flexibility in the system.

The Indiana Chamber's scorecard also shone a light on several high-priority bills from House Republicans. These include measures to meet the energy needs of the state's expanding economy (House Enrolled Act 1007) and a law delivering property tax relief and reform (Senate Enrolled Act 1).

According to Indiana House Republicans, O'Brien emphasized the importance of these measures, stating, "Indiana continues to strengthen its reputation as a great place to start and grow a business, build a career and enjoy a high quality of life. " The lawmaker's dedication to these ideals has clearly played a part in Indiana's economic success stories, with the state recently being hailed first in the Midwest and sixth nationally in Chief Executive Magazine’s 'Best & Worst States for Business' survey, and earning the second spot on Forbes magazine’s list of "Best states to start a business in.
