A fugitive wanted on multiple charges was taken into custody in Fort Pierce after a confrontation with law enforcement turned physical. According to CBS12, deputies from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office (SLCSO) responded to a call yesterday, locating Robert Milano, a 40-year-old male with active felony warrants, at the 6600 block of Darter Court.

The deputies faced resistance upon their attempt to detain Milano, who reportedly became combative, leading to him allegedly striking a deputy before fleeing on foot. Despite the altercation, deputies managed to chase down and apprehend Milano after a short distance. WPBF notes that the deputy was struck in the face during the pursuit.

Milano was initially wanted for cocaine possession and resisting arrest without violence but now faces additional charges stemming from the recent incident. These new charges include battery on a law enforcement officer and an extra count of resisting arrest, this time with violence. CBS12 detailed that these new charges were added following the altercation.

Currently, Milano finds himself incarcerated at the St. Lucie County Jail, being held without bond as per SLCSO's instructions. Attempts to get a comment from Milano's legal representation were unsuccessful.
