
In the early hours today, Fort Wayne Police Department officers were dispatched to an incident on Lakeridge Drive, where they discovered a man with a fatal gunshot wound. This victim, an adult male whose identity has not been released, was quickly transported to a local trauma hospital, according to the City of Fort Wayne.
Despite the swift response of first responders, the man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Fort Wayne Homicide Detectives, working with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office, are actively investigating the incident. In a press release, the FWPD confirmed the arrest of 25-year-old Alaye Hanson as the suspect in the shooting. Hanson was taken into custody without incident and has been preliminarily charged with murder.
Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any possible motive.
