Chaos erupted late Sunday on Chicago's Northwest Side when two men allegedly opened fire on another vehicle, triggering a dramatic pursuit that ended near a Chicago police station. According to FOX 32 Chicago, around 11:30 p.m., the victims were driving by Cicero Avenue and Addison Street when a silver vehicle pulled up with one assailant brandishing a gun. The terrified victims fled to the 25th District police station seeking shelter, but the suspects brazenly continued their pursuit and attack, discharging their firearm and striking the victims' car along with an empty Chicago Police Department (CPD) squad car.
Following the shooting, a frenzied chase ensued that spanned nearly three miles. The suspects' desperate bid for escape led to a collision with multiple parked cars in the 1500 block of North Pulaski Road in Humboldt Park, as reported by Chicago Sun-Times. The two suspects abandoned the wrecked vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by the responding officers from CPD.
No injuries have been reported in what could have escalated into an even more harrowing incident. Area Five detectives have taken up the investigation, recovering a weapon from the scene and holding the suspects in custody as charges are pending.
