
The Indianapolis community is dealing with a heartbreaking incident following the death of an infant discovered in a family pool. According to a report by WISH-TV, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a family member found the infant on the southwest side of Indianapolis, near Eagle Creek and Kentucky Avenue. The incident occurred on the 2100 block of Barrett Avenue, and was reported to authorities around 10:23 a.m.
Upon discovering the child's precarious situation, a family member undertook an emergency, beginning to transport the infant to the hospital before handed off to professional paramedics. As reported by WTHR, during transit, the family member encountered an ambulance in the area, enabling the infant to receive rapid transferal to a local hospital in critical condition. Tragically, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
There is currently an ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to this fatal event. According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, they are figuring out what led to the infant’s untimely death. This information comes from a report by WIBC, which states that before police could arrive at the scene a family member had already taken the infant, who was then transported to a medical facility after being spotted by paramedics near Oliver and Belmont Avenues. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has not yet released additional details on the investigation or the events leading up to the discovery of the infant.
