A man was hospitalized after being attacked by a trio of dogs during a walk in West Park, marking the latest in a series of dog attacks in the Broward County area. According to WSVN, the assault occurred along Southwest 58th Street yesterday afternoon when surveillance footage captured the man desperately trying to evade the animals by jumping on a utility box and climbing a palm tree.
The video detailed the dogs relentlessly biting the man's arms and legs as he fell, with neighbors reporting his screams echoing throughout the area. A local resident, drawn by the commotion to rush home, attended to the victim. Caught on a ring camera, the incident showed the man, according to Alberto Dominguez's statement to WSVN, with a "bloody" leg that was besieged by the dogs appeared worse than initially thought. Broward County Animal Service later took custody of the dogs, which have been described by neighbors as "viscous" and known to escape through a hole in their yard. The owner's failure to keep such dogs contained has come under scrutiny, with Dominguez noting, “I just feel that it’s irresponsible people not controlling their dogs. I knew those dogs were vicious, take care of them.”
In a separate report by Local 10 News, exclusive surveillance footage showed the man trying to climb a tree before being pulled down by the aggressive dogs. Dominguez indicated he had always felt safe in the neighborhood, never anticipating an attack like this on someone simply walking down the street. After witnessing the attack, Dominguez found the man shaking, covered in blood with a prominently visible gash.
Dominguez's concern extended to the potential victims, stating, "It could be a kid. My cat’s here, it could be a cat. My wife is pregnant, it could be her." The man who suffered the attack received medical attention for a "minor dog bite" and was taken away by an ambulance. The dogs are now in the custody of Broward Animal Services, as detailed by Local 10 News.
