In American Canyon, a late-night encounter led to the arrest of a 21-year-old resident, according to a statement from the local police. Police officers initiated contact with two individuals occupying a black BMW parked in a handicapped space without displaying the necessary placard. The incident occurred at the residential complex at 2525 Flosden Road, American Canyon. As reported in the police department's social media post, officers spotted the vehicle earlier in the evening. They observed it making a quick turn off the road, evading police presence.
After locating the vehicle again, officers discovered a firearm visibly strapped to the waistband of the front passenger, identified as Joseph Rojas, a Napa County probationer. With the juvenile driver, both were detained during the intervention.
The handgun, a loaded Glock 48 9mm, was revealed to be unregistered after further investigation. In addition to the firearm, authorities discovered an open bottle of Hennessy alcohol in the car. Following these findings, the juvenile was cited for the open container and was subsequently released into the custody of their parents.
On the other hand, Rojas faced more severe repercussions for the evening's actions. Rojas is facing various charges, having been booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections. This includes four felony charges and two misdemeanor charges connected to illegal firearm possession, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and violating probation, according to the details shared by the American Canyon Police Department.
