While the massive $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot was claimed by winners in Missouri and Texas this past weekend, a group of 11 lucky Hoosiers found themselves holding tickets worth either $100,000 or $50,000. According to the Hoosier Lottery, four of these high-tier winning tickets, sold at various locations including a House of Spirits in Auburn and three Speedway stores across Lafayette, Lapaz, and Portage, will see the winners take home $100,000 apiece, FOX59 reported.
Seven additional tickets are set to significantly boost their owners' bank balances by $50,000. Lassus Handy Dandy #46 in Fort Wayne and JJ’s #7 in Bunker Hill were among the lucky retail spots. The news comes as a boon to Indiana residents who have reportedly won a total of $11.6 million since the Powerball's climb to the staggering $1.8 billion jackpot began on June 1st. However, it seems that the Hoosier Lottery wants everyone to clearly remember to "securely keep" their winning tickets and "to consider meeting with a financial advisor," WTHR reports.
Among the list of locations where winning tickets were sold, Hometown Market in Indianapolis and Rose City Quick Pix in Richmond delivered five $50,000 prizes to Powerball players. Not to be outdone, two additional $50,000 prizes were also snapped up through the Powerball Double Play feature. Winners from the Shell station in Greenwood and Russiaville Food Mart scooped these. The Hoosier Lottery reiterated that the winning numbers for this lucrative Powerball draw were 11-23-44-61-62, with the Powerball being 17 and a Power Play of 2X, while the Double Play numbers also featured the number 17 as its Powerball.
The jackpot might have reset to $20 million for Monday's Powerball drawing, but that hasn't seemed to dampen the thrill for Indiana's newest batch of winners. Luke 224 in Valparaiso also sold a ticket that is now worth $50,000, rounding out the list of places where fortune favored the lucky Powerball participants. "Winners are urged to keep their tickets secure, consult a financial advisor, and contact Hoosier Lottery customer service for claim instructions," reminds WOWO.
