North Miami Beach Police have made four arrests in connection with the fatal shooting of Melvin Victor, a city employee whose life was cut short while celebrating his 30th birthday. According to a statement obtained by NBC Miami, the North Miami Beach Police Chief Juan Pinillos announced the break in the murder case that took place on Aug. 20. The three men and one woman have been apprehended less than two weeks after the incident.
Among those arrested is Jamoree Ahmad Pitts, who was taken into custody nine days after the murder. Trayquan Kamari Williams and Antoine Eleby Jr. are also facing charges, including first-degree murder and attempted murder. The fourth suspect, Eileen Garcia, has been charged with accessory after the fact. Chief Pinillos praised the swift action of investigators, stating, “I want to commend our investigators who, within just six hours of being notified of this homicide, identified these suspects and started building the case that led to these arrests,” as reported by 7News.
Victor was gunned down in the parking lot of an apartment complex, and the shooting has been described as a "senseless murder" by the victim’s brother, Jude Denozio. In a deeply emotional interview, Denozio shared with NBC Miami, “He was just a young man celebrating his birthday. He was excited. 30-years-old. My brother only had one hour to celebrate his birthday. One hour. This senseless murder for no reason, and I’m just here to tell the City of North Miami Beach Department, thank you. Thank you.”
The investigation into Victor's murder is still unfolding, with North Miami Beach Police suggesting that additional individuals could be involved. They continue to seek any further information from the public, urging them to come forward. Anyone with details to share can contact the police at 305-949-5500. The four suspects have not been reported to have known the victim; thus, the motive for the crime remains undisclosed.
